Five Assumptions Every Nepalese (especially Gen Z) Needs to Question and Reflect On

I was in Kathmandu for a few days in the aftermath of the Gen Z protests. During this sojourn, I had the opportunity to speak with some friends, which helped me understand the nature of current public debates about the future of Nepal. I observed a mixed feeling of optimism and caution among the people I talked with. While I am positive about the political change that the protests have brought about, I think Nepal (especially the Gen Z) needs to examine certain assumptions more seriously. In the following, I present a list of assumptions and my views on them. In my opinion, these assumptions need more in-depth debates/discussions.

सत्य भ्रम हो, त्यसैले आफूलाई लागेका कुरा

यो लेखमा म नेपाल र नेपालीको बौद्धिक विश्लेषण गर्न गइरहेको छैन । सत्यसम्म पुग्न भनेर उपयोग गरिने बौद्धिकता पनि भ्रम हो । मानिस मूलतः मनोवेगबाट निर्देशित हुन्छ । सत्य, तथ्य, तार्किकता आदि कुरा त्यही मनोवेग (इमोशन, प्यासन, आदि)लाई लिपपोत गरेर टल्काउने औंजार हुन् । 

यस लेखमार्फत् म जे भन्न गइरहेको छु -ती पनि सबै मेरा नितान्त भावनात्मक कुरा मात्र हुन् ।

यो राजनीतिक संक्रमण कसरी सम्हाल्ने?

विगत एक दशकयता नेपाल सुशासनमा निरन्तर कमजोर भइरहेको र असन्तुष्टि चुलिँदै गएको कुरा आफ्ना लेखहरूमा मैले बारम्बार उठाइरहेको थिएँ।

असन्तुष्टिको विस्फोट कुनै दिन हुन सक्छ भनेर अनुमान गर्न गाह्रो थिएन। म र मजस्ता सर्वसाधारणले सहजै बुझेको यस्तो यथार्थ राजनीतिक दलका अहंकारी नेताहरूले बुझ्न सकेनन् वा चाहेनन्। असन्तुष्टिको भयानक बिस्फोट जेन–जीको आन्दोलबाट देखिएको छ। यस क्रममा भएको जनधनको क्षतिले नेपालका अन्तहीन जटिलतामाथि अर्को भयंकर जटिलता थपिदिएको छ।

नेपालका खबरले तपाईंको मस्तिष्क रन्थनिएको छ ? मेरो पनि छ । तर, मस्तिष्कलाई बोझ दिएर फाइदा केही छैन । तीनदिनको घनचक्करपछि आजबाट आफ्नो नियमित दैनिकीमा फर्किने प्रयास गर्दैछु । आजको लेखाइमा मेरो दैनिकीसँग जोडिएका एउटा पुरानो र एउटा नयाँ कुरा यहाँहरूसँग बाड्ने प्रयास गर्दैछु । 

Why I Stand With Gen-Z Against Corruption

To begin with, I am with anyone and everyone who wants to rebel against the current political establishments of Nepal. I completely understand the anger. I am simply surprised to see the level of complacency among the people of Nepal. Nepal's public services and economy are in a horrible state, and this is all because of the inept and incompetent political leaders who lead Nepal's major political parties.
